HAF Member of the Month – February: Dan Toms

At Hybrid Athlete Fitness in St Albans, we always like to recognise members who quietly show what consistent training and the right attitude look like. For February, our Member of the Month goes to Dan Toms.

Dan has been a brilliant example of what it means to train smart and stay consistent. Throughout the month he has regularly attended a wide range of sessions including Pilates, cardio classes and our strength-based training sessions, making sure he keeps a well-rounded approach to his fitness.

What makes this even more impressive is that Dan has been doing all of this while carefully managing a persistent back issue. Rather than letting it stop his progress, he has taken a sensible and disciplined approach to training — adapting where necessary, staying patient, and focusing on doing the basics well.

One thing the coaching team has really noticed is Dan’s preparation before sessions. He regularly arrives early to Strength classes, takes the time to roll and mobilise properly, and has been putting in extra effort working on his pull-ups. These small habits might seem simple, but they are exactly the kind of behaviours that lead to long-term progress.

At HAF we always talk about the importance of consistency over intensity. You don’t need to do everything perfectly, but showing up regularly, preparing your body properly, and putting in steady effort week after week will always pay off. Dan’s approach to his training over the last month has been a great example of this mindset in action.

It’s also a reminder that fitness isn’t just about lifting the heaviest weights or chasing the fastest times. Sometimes the real progress comes from training intelligently, respecting your body, and building sustainable habits that allow you to keep moving forward even when things aren’t perfect.

Dan has done exactly that throughout February, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by the coaching team.

A huge well done from everyone at Hybrid Athlete Fitness — thoroughly deserved.
